FirstSearch (ID and Barcode required off-campus)
Online access to WorldCat-- holdings of the much of the world's library collections, millions of records in over 400 languages; Electronic Collections Online (ECO)-- access to journals published on the Internet; and ArticleFirst-- Index to journal articles (1990- present). Use Firstsearch to electronically submit interlibrary loans

San Francisco Public Library
- Borrowing privileges are available with proof of California residence. Your SFPL card number allows remote access to online databases that cover journals in the social sciences, newspapers and magazines.

University of California San Francisco Library
- Borrowing privileges available at UCSF Parnassus Library with Hastings ID.
- Hastings students may use the computers in the library to access Galen - The Digital Library of UCSF. Accessible only on the UCSF campus, this system combines the resources of the California Digital Library, UCSF's own subscriptions to electronic journals, and access to the full text of articles on PubMed.
- Printing from UCSF computers is 22 cents per page.

University of California Berkeley Libraries

NLM Gateway
The NLM Gateway allows users to search in multiple retrieval systems at the US National Library of Medicine (NLM). The current Gateway searches MEDLINE/PubMed, OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus, AIDS Meetings, Health Services Research Meetings, HSRProj, MEDLINEplus and DIRLINE: Directory of Health Organizations.

National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature
This site is from the Joseph and Rose Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University. Includes the searchable databases:
ETHX on the Web (Journal articles, analytics, bills, laws, court decisions, reports, and news articles relating to bioethics and professional ethics) and Genetics and Ethics (Books, journal articles, analytics, bills, laws, court decisions, reports, news articles and audiovisuals).

The President's Council on Bioethics
The web site for the Federal office. Contains meeting transcripts, and working papers.

Biotechnology and Health Care Ethics
The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University is a nationally recognized resource for people and organizations wanting to study and apply an ethical approach to the crucial issues facing our world.

Bioethics.net new.gif (972 bytes)
A clearinghouse of current news and information on bioethics from the Alden March Bioethics Institute, the publisher of the American Journal of Bioethics (AJOB). Includes selected articles and commentary from AJOB, a topical index and a blog hosted by the editors of AJOB.

US Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Heath maintains an excellent page of links to Bioethics Resources on the Web.
