California Legislation

  • Official California Legislative Information is the official site for California legislative information maintained by the Legislative Counsel of California, pursuant to California law. There is a great deal of useful information available at this site including:
    • "Bill Information" , which includes the full text of bills, resolutions, and constitutional amendments, with status, history, votes, analyses, and veto messages. This is a great source for California legislative history information for bills from 1993 through current.
    • "Today's Events" , which includes the daily legislative calendar.
    • "California Law", which includes the current California Code.
  • Political Reform Division, California Secretary of State - This site has information concerning statements of economic interest of public officials and campaign contribution information.
  • Fair Political Practices Commission  -   The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) interprets and enforces the Political Reform Act.  The Act governs disclosure of political campaign contributions and spending by candidates and ballot measure committees.  It also sets ethics rules for state and local government officials, and regulates lobbyist's financial disclosure and lobbying practices.  This website includes the Political Reform Act of 1974, information about state lobbying, and the Conflict of Interest / Financial Disclosure (SEI) law.
  • The Office of the Governor's Home Page contains selected government documents including executive orders, press releases, selected speeches, veto messages, and the state budget.
  • The unofficial California Code of Regulations (CCR) Website contains the text of the regulations that have been formally adopted by state agencies, reviewed and approved by the Office of Administrative Law, and filed with the Secretary of State. The Official version known as Barclays Official California Code of Regulations, is available in looseleaf printed format at the Hastings Law Library in the Reserve Room.
  • FindLaw California provides a short directory with links to most of the important California legal information available on the internet.
  • California Government Legal Information indexed by Yahoo. This site provides links to the California Code and to various directories of California legal information.
  • California Legislative History Guide - A guide to sources available to Hastings students.
Federal Legislation
  • GPO Access is the official online Federal Government information service provided by the U.S. Government Printing Office. GPO Access provides access to the full-text of numerous government publications including: The Federal Register; The Congressional Record; Congressional Bills, House & Senate Calendars, Congressional Reports; the Congressional Directory; Public Laws; the U.S. Government Manual; the United States Code, and the Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Thomas - Legislative Information on the Internet is a service provided by the Library of Congress. It contains the full text of all versions of House and Senate bills from the 101st Congress through the current   Congress, as well as the full text of The Congressional Record since the 101st Congress.  Thomas also includes Committee Reports and numerous historical congressional documents.
  • FedLaw is an internet law index maintained by the U.S. General Services Administration. It includes Federal laws, rules, and regulations; Federal judicial decisions; some state laws; arbitration and mediation; general research and reference sources; professional associations; and legal-related how-to locations.
  • Congressional Universe - CISŪ Congressional Universe is the world's most comprehensive access to U.S. legislative information from Congressional Information Service, Inc. The service offers access to a variety of information by and about the United States Congress. [Coverage: 1970- present] [Access: restricted to users on campus].
  • Federal Legislative History Guide - A guide to sources available to Hastings students.
