MELVYL (Book catalog for University of California system, periodical catalog for California Libraries, plus a wide variety of online databases. San Francisco Public Library Reference Databases (SFPL card required.)

The databases found here include:

- MEDLINE (abstracted articles from medical journals)
References and abstracts from over 4000 biomedical journals. Strong in the areas of clinical and basic sciences, nursing, dentistry, and health care planning and administration from 1966 to the present.

- PsycFIRST (psychology abstracts)
Journal articles, chapters, books, dissertations, and reports on psychology and related fields.
Includes international material selected from periodicals written in over 25 languages.
Includes current chapter and book coverage with worldwide English-language material published from 1987-present. Adds over 55,000 references annually through monthly updates

- Social Science Abstracts

Abstracts to Social Science articles selected from 550 English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere.

University of California San Francisco Library Database and Literature Searching
(Available at UCSF only or with a password.)

The databases found here include:

- BIOSIS Previews
Provides comprehensive worldwide coverage of all life science research fields with an emphasis on new research in biology and medicine. The database contains records from 1988 to the present. It includes journal articles as well as technical reports, books, book chapters, US Patents, software, and hard-to-find meeting abstracts.

- MEDLINE
Search PREMEDLINE for the latest references to the biomedical and health sciences literature.

- psycINFO (Includes citations to articles in over 1,300 professional journals, conference proceedings, books, reports, and dissertations in psychology and related disciplines, from 1887 to the present).

PubMed
Access to the National Library of Medicine's PubMed interface to MEDLINE. The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and the National Library of Medicine has established this MEDLINE service. Includes access to PREMEDLINE -- the newest citations to enter the MEDLINE system -- and HealthSTAR. Also provides access to NLM databases such as AIDSLINE, HISTLINE, POPLINE, OLDMEDLINE, SPACELINE, TOXLINE, etc.



NLM Gateway
The NLM Gateway allows users to search in multiple retrieval systems at the US National Library of Medicine (NLM). The current Gateway searches MEDLINE/PubMed, OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus, AIDS Meetings, Health Services Research Meetings, HSRProj, MEDLINEplus and DIRLINE.
