United Nations Internet Resources

There are a number of excellent Internet sources available for locating United Nations documents. The list below provides a good starting place for your United Nations research. Some documents like Security Council Resolutions and General Assembly Resolutions are easy to find using the links below. While many of the recent UN documents are available online, remember that not every document is available.

Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC)
EISIL - UN webpage maintained by the American Society of International Law.
General Assembly - Includes resolutions and other GA documents.
ICJ - International Court of Justice (World Court) website.
International Law - UN webpage with info about treaties, ICC, ICJ, etc.
Official Document System of the United Nations (ODS) - The BEST search tool for finding official UN documents available online.
Resolutions - GA / SC / Research Guide

UNBISnet - The Catalogue of UN documents and publications indexed by the UN Dag Hammarskjöld Library.
UN Charter - Full-text of the Charter of the United Nations.
UNdata - A web portal that unites UN statistical sources in a single interface. The mission of this project is to "provide free access to global statistics."
UN Documentation Centre - Links to the full-text of many UN documents.
UN Documentation: Research Guide - Provides an overview of the types of documents issued by the UN with a description of the various UN document symbols.
UN High Commissioner for Refugees - Includes the UNHCR research website
UN News Centre - Current events in the UN.
UN Scholars' Workstation - Basic UN research information maintained by Yale University.
UN System of Organizations - Alphabetic index of the various UN websites.
University of Minnesota Human Rights Library - Collection of United Nations documents.
World Court - The official ICJ website.

The UN webpages listed above are the best places to look for UN documents, but you can also find official (and unofficial versions of) UN documents at other websites by using a good Internet search engine such as Google. [Try searching by the document title "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" or the document number "S/RES/1483"].
