Faculty Resources
BOOK PURCHASE REQUESTS
If you would like the Library to order a new title for the collection, contact (ext. 4763) or your librarian-liaison. Titles may be checked out and routed to you when they are received.
BOOK PICK-UP
The Library picks up books, routed materials, and donations from faculty offices on Wednesdays (198 bldg.) and Thursdays (200 bldg., 3rd and 6th floors). To arrange for this service contact John Borden (ext. 4768).
COURSE RESERVE
Course reserve requests can be made by contacting (ext. 4768). There are two loan periods for course reserve materials: a 2-hour or a 24-hour loan. A 2-hour loan item must be read or copied in the Library. An item on 24-hour loan may be taken out of the Library. If you are placing books on course reserve, please notify John of the titles prior to the beginning of the semester in order to ensure their availability when classes start.
CURRENT INDEX TO LEGAL PERIODICALS
Current Index to Legal Periodicals provides topical access to over 500 legal publications, organized within 100 relevant subject headings. The CILP contains complete tables of contents of all the journals indexed, with all citations in Bluebook form. This resource has the most current eight weeks of indexing, and is accessible on any campus computer. For faculty email subscriptions to the index, see SmartCILP below.
EXAMS
Each semester the Records Office deposits with the Library copies of released Hastings Law exams. The Library binds 7 copies of these exams in the summer. Supplementary material, specifically sample answers and explanatory memos, may also be included with the bound exams. Bound exams for the previous seven years are shelved in the Reserve Stacks. In addition, one copy of all of these exams (1978/79 to present) is shelved in the Faculty Library on aisle 15B. A complete collection of the bound exams is maintained in the Library's Rare Book Room as well. You may also place exams or exam answers on course reserve. These materials will be kept in file folders at the Circulation Desk under your name. Each exam and any related material that the Library receives, either from the Records Office or for course reserve, is digitally scanned and made available on the Library's web site. The electronic exam database covers the period from 1995 to present.

This site allows the author of an article to select journal criteria - including subject specialties, geographic region, and refereed status - click on the "author submit" button, and generate a list of journals that accept multiple e-mail submissions. From this list, the author can submit multiple e-mails to all these journals.

The Hastings Law Library New Books publication is a selected list of recent titles acquired by the Library. This list of new monograph and serial titles includes materials received by the California and the U.S. Documents Departments. The Library's new books list of recent acquisitions is published monthly. It is accessible on the library web site. Faculty are notified of each new issue through their e-mail. Concurrently they receive a printed copy of the subject headings used in the list and a copy of the New Books Request Form. Please address any questions on this service to (ext. 4763).

RESEARCH ASSISTANTS
ORIENTATION: An orientation with a reference librarian can be arranged for research assistants. In early June, summer research assistants are offered a special group orientation concerning library resources and research.
