The library maintains links from the library website to recent articles,
news stories, and websites about current legal events. One of our main
goals is to select accurate and unbiased information sources that include
items of scholarly interest to the Hastings faculty and students. In determining
whether a website should be included in the list of news links, we consider
the following factors:
- Accuracy
- Authority
- Currency
- Navigation & Design
- Applicability& Content
- Audience Level
- Quality of Writing
Most items chosen are related to the field of law in general, and many
tend to have a California, San Francisco, or Hastings connection in particular.
For example, we often include links to articles written by Hastings professors.
We also select websites dealing with international legal issues, as there
is a growing focus on international law and the global economy. Other
specific considerations we use in selecting websites include, trying to
select sites with minimal advertising and sites that have had a reliable
web presence for some time.
These links are changed on an irregular basis as the important legal
new stories evolve. Websites and news stories are evaluated using the
criteria above by one or more members of the library staff. The Hastings
College of the Law Library expresses no opinion about any of the issues
discussed on these pages; these articles reflect the views of the writer/speaker
only.
